It is anticipated Crew Chief training enrollment
will commence the fall of 2009 provided the construction of the
space station pilot project module is completed. Only thirty
trainees will be admitted to the program. Thirty Crew Chiefs
will be hired full time when the full facility is completed
(scheduled 2011); therefore, all trainees successfully
completing the two year program are almost certainly going to
have a job when facility construction is complete. Applicants
for the Crew Chief Training Program will be considered in the
order in which their applications are received. Early
application is recommended. Please review the CREW CHIEF
TRAINEE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS page following this information
page. If you do not currently meet the minimum requirements
but will by the fall of 2009 when enrollment begins you may submit the application form now to secure your place on the
list by noting on those appropriate areas of the form that you
will meet minimum requirements by 2009 and will submit
required verification by that time.
Crew Chiefs hired by SCTC will be the mentors and
instructors for new student crew members enrolling in the SCTC program. Crew Chiefs will receive full time pay
(starting
$28,000 per year) and benefits along with room and board,
required apparel, three free round trip (simulation) space
plane tickets annually for earth leave, and $1,000 credit
annually for Distance Learning Courses earning college credits.
Crew Chiefs will live on the simulated space station as do
students and will serve as senior crew on space missions to
the off station colony bases. Some limited family
accommodations will be available to Crew Chiefs on the
permanent space station, but not on the pilot project training
facility.
If interested please complete and submit the CREW
CHIEF TRAINEE APPLICATION FORM following this page. Your
name will then be placed on our candidate list. Submitting an
application does not guarantee admittance into the program.
